St. Anthony of Padua was a Franciscan friar whose preaching was so luminous that crowds filled the fields to hear him, and a Doctor of the Church. The whole world knows him as the finder of lost things, a devotion born when a stolen book of his psalms was returned after his prayer. He is invoked for everything lost: objects, health, direction, and people. Feast day: June 13.

O gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, you have the privilege of restoring lost things to those who ask.
I have lost something precious, and I ask you to whisper my petition into the ears of the Child Jesus, who loved to rest in your arms. Restore to me what I have lost, and above all, restore to me anything within my own soul that has gone missing: peace, hope, or trust.
I give you my thanks in advance, sure that nothing entrusted to you stays lost for long.
