St. Pio of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio)

St. Pio of Pietrelcina, the beloved Padre Pio, was a Capuchin friar who bore the wounds of Christ for fifty years and spent up to sixteen hours a day hearing confessions. Penitents came from every continent, and countless healings and graces are attributed to his intercession. His counsel to every anxious soul was simple: pray, hope, and don’t worry. Feast day: September 23.

Prayer to St. Padre Pio

Pray, Hope, and Don't Worry

Dear St. Pio, you carried the wounds of Christ in your body and the burdens of thousands in your heart, and still you told us not to worry, because worry accomplishes nothing and prayer accomplishes everything.

Take my intention into your hands as you took so many. Present it to the Lord with the boldness of a friend, and obtain for me the grace I seek, or the greater grace God prefers.

Teach me your secret: to pray with all my strength, to hope with all my heart, and to leave the worrying behind. I thank you even now for what heaven is preparing.
